British interest in the Wimbledon singles is over after Cameron Norrie fell in straight sets to defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in a one-sided quarter-final.

Carlos Alcaraz is just the second active male player to reach at least three Wimbledon semi-finals after Novak Djokovic. Alcaraz now has 23 successive wins on the ATP Tour, and faces Taylor Fritz next

Norrie won their last meeting on the clay of Rio de Janeiro two years ago, when Alcaraz was just a teenager. Now, this lad from Murcia in southeastern Spain is looking to add his name to the honours board at the All England Club for the third time, aged just 23. Only a fool would bet against him at this juncture.
