Outside Milwaukee Police District 2, fallen Officer Kendall Corder's squad car is parked, collecting flowers and balloons. His end of watch was June 29. The people who knew Corder best added to the tribute Monday.

Corder and fellow officer Christopher McCray were shot and wounded near 25th and Garfield on Thursday, June 26. MPD said the suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Tremaine Jones, was taken into custody early Friday morning. Police say the gunman "ambushed" the officers, with gunfire hitting both.

A memorial is growing outside Milwaukee's District 2 police station as the community gathers to honor officer Kendall Corder, who served for six years before he died in the line of duty Sunday.
