The police informed that the Bangladeshi national had entered India seven months ago and used a West Bengal resident’s Aadhaar card to procure a SIM before moving to Mumbai.

According to the police, the accused had illegally entered India by crossing the Dawki River around seven months ago. After entering India, he had initially stayed in Bengal for a few weeks. He had even used the Aadhaar card of a local man to procure a SIM card before moving to Mumbai in search of a job.

A Mumbai court has sent Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad to five days of police custody in the Saif Ali Khan attack case.

A man thought to be a citizen of Bangladesh was arrested in India's financial capital Mumbai on Sunday and is considered the prime suspect in the stabbing of Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, police said.

Meanwhile, the police are yet to recover the part of the knife used to attack Saif Ali Khan. According to a report in The Times of India, the police said that the accused broke into Saif's home with the intention of robbery because of extreme poverty.

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan left a hospital in India's financial capital Mumbai on Tuesday (Jan 21), less than a week after he suffered knife injuries in a scuffle with an intruder at his house, local media reported.

The accused worked at a Worli restaurant before he joined a Thane restaurant. When he was caught stealing, his employment was terminated.

DCP Pournima Chougule announced that action is being taken against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the Nalasopara area near Mumbai. She said, 'Bangladeshis are being identified and action is being taken against them.
