Brenda Andrew was convicted of the 2001 murder of her husband, Rob Andrew, an advertising executive and church deacon, who was killed with a shotgun in the garage of his home in Oklahoma City. Brenda was convicted of murder in 2004, as was her boyfriend, James Pavatt, whom she had begun seeing after her estrangement from Rob.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday revived a challenge by a death row inmate in Oklahoma who claims prosecutors “sex-shamed” her during her trial, referring to her as a “slut puppy” and holding up her thong for the jury.

Brenda Andrew told the Supreme Court that Oklahoma prosecutors used sexist stereotypes like waving her underwear before the jury and calling her a “slut puppy” to convince a jury she should be executed for her husband’s murder.
