President-elect Donald Trump has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to prevent a New York state court from sentencing him for his conviction on criminal charges stemming from hush money paid to a porn star.

The president-elect is asking the Supreme Court to halt the sentencing after both Judge Juan Merchan and an appeals court refused.

Trump asked the Supreme Court to delay sentencing in the hush money case, citing harm to the presidential transition. Sentencing is set for Jan. 10.
