Repeating her charge that the floods in West Bengal are man-made, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written to PM Narendra Modi and blamed the release of water by the Damodar Valley Corporation from reservoirs in Jharkhand for the situation.

In the letter to PM Modi, Mamata Banerjee urged the Centre to immediately release central funds to mitigate the widespread devastation caused by the floods.

Mamata Banerjee wrote to Prime Minister Modi regarding severe floods in West Bengal caused by water releases from Maithon and Panchet dams. She declared the state would cut ties with the Damodar Valley Corporation if necessary — citing the immense damage to around five million people.
