After biotechnology and genetic engineering company Colossal Biosciences said it successfully created three dire wolf puppies earlier this week, the Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum shared his thoughts on resurrecting other extinct animals — and is reconsidering the endangered species list.

The Trump administration is seeking to roll back protections afforded to endangered species in an effort to make it easier to build in their habitats. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Marine Fisheries Service proposed a rule change on Thursday to redefine “harm” narrowly in the Endangered Species Act.

Conservationists worry that a proposal to redefine the meaning of ‘harm’ will eliminate habitat protection and lead to mining and logging.
