Flags are to be lowered across Kansas this week starting on Monday. Kansas Governor Laura Kelly issued an order on Dec. 30 to lower flags across the state to half-staff in honor of former President Jimmy Carter who passed away at the age of 100 on Dec.

The governor’s order calls for the American flag to be at half-staff throughout the state for 30 days from the date of a president’s death. That means the flag will be lowered until sunset on Jan. 28.
