PORTLAND, Maine — Snow has begun over southern Maine as of early evening and snow will become steadiest during the middle of the night and work inland, up to about Bangor. Roads will likely get slick late tonight. The snow will quickly collapse back to the coast during Saturday's predawn hours.

Friday will be a milder day, with temperatures in the mid-30s and mostly cloudy skies. A system moving into the area will spread precipitation across the area by early evening. Areas in southernmost Maine may see that precipitation start as rain.
