WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State Antony Blinken is heading to Europe for urgent meetings on Ukraine with NATO and European Union officials following last week’s U.S. presidential election and the return of Donald Trump to the White House in January.

Officials meeting in Brussels will discuss Ukraine’s war against Russia amid concerns that the new administration will slash U.S. support for Kyiv.

Trump has spoken to Zelenskiy and held a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to a source familiar with the conversation, in which the president-elect reportedly urged Putin not to escalate the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin has denied the call took place.
