Northeast Florida counties started preparing and offering sandbags Sunday ahead of Hurricane Milton, which is forecast to impact our area Wednesday.

As Hurricane Milton nears the Gulf Coast, Northeast Florida school districts are preparing for potential impacts by announcing closures. School districts are currently determining when to cancel classes as a precautionary measure.

Hurricane Milton is moving "erratically" in the Gulf of Mexico and is likely to become a major hurricane later today.

With Hurricane Milton bearing down on Florida's west coast, a number of local teams are adjusting schedules in the face of inclement weather.

Palm Beach County schools are open Monday, Oct. 7 and the district says its closely monitoring Hurricane Milton as it rapidly intensifies in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to become a major hurricane this week.
