CBS News Texas contacted nearly 30 districts in North Texas to find out what they would do if immigration agents come knocking.

More than a third of children in Texas are immigrants or children of immigrants, according to Children at Risk.

Candra Rogers, an assistant principal at Collins Intermediate School, was injured in August when a student threw a wooden hanger at her. The hanger hit Rogers in the right eye, and knocked her eye out of the socket, she said.

"We were losing students, and we wanted to make sure that we maintained the number of teachers and the capacities of our campuses were met,” Dr. David Vinson said.

The incident happened Tuesday at Collins Intermediate School, the same campus where an assistant principal was severely injured by a student in August.

The United States recorded at least 1,855 tornadoes in 2024, unofficially surpassing the previous record of 1,814 set in 2004.
