NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has wanted a more competitive All-Star event for some time, and this change comes after the teams combined to score a record 397 points — 211-186 was the final — in last season’s game at Indianapolis.

Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo led all players in the final fan voting (4,435,266) to represent the Eastern Conference for the ninth time in his career. Denver Nuggets forward Nikola Jokić earned his seventh All-Star nod as the lead vote-getter in the Western Conference (3,724,344).

Seven players will be named All-Star reserves in each conference: two guards, three frontcourt players and two additional players at any position. NBA head coaches will select the reserves. The 14 total All-Star reserves will join the 10 All-Star starters who were announced last week to complete the All-Star player pool.
