WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate is muscling Pete Hegseth’s nomination as defense secretary toward confirmation Friday, prioritizing his vow to create a “warrior culture” at the Pentagon over allegations of heavy drinking and aggressive behavior toward women.

After being sworn-in by Vice President JD Vance, the Pentagon’s new leader addressed the Defense Department’s three million employees.

Hegseth, a former Minnesota National Guard officer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan was sworn in by Vice President J.D. Vance on Saturday morning to lead the Pentagon.
