Here are storm shelters opening across metro Atlanta
Several counties across metro Atlanta are opening emergency storm shelters ahead of severe storms moving in overnight. Severe Weather Team 2 has been tracking severe storms with the potential for strong tornadoes and damaging winds across north Georgia for several days and telling people to identify their safe place.

Portions of north Georgia are included in a level 4 out of 5 'moderate' risk for severe weather, and the remainder of the 11Alive viewing area is in a level 3 out of 5 'enhanced' risk. We could see numerous severe thunderstorms with strong straight-line winds of 60 to 70+ mph, possible strong tornadoes, very heavy rain, and 1" to 2" of hail.
Emergency shelters to open in Atlanta ahead of severe weather
The emergency shelters will be the Central Park Recreation Center located at 400 Merritts Ave. NE and Old Adamsville Recreation Center located at 3404 Delmar Ln. NW.
