According to Adam Schefter, Carter received a call when the Jaguars were on the clock with the second-overall pick. The caller pretended to be from the Jacksonville front office and told both Carter and his agent Drew Rosenhaus that the Jaguars were taking the former Penn State star.

Shedeur Sanders was not the only prospect to receive a prank call during the NFL draft. Kyle McCord, the former Syracuse quarterback who was taken by the Eagles last weekend, told Philadelphia-area media that someone tried to prank him while the draft was ongoing.
