Starlink Solar Array Size : r/Starlink - Reddit
Jun 3, 2020 · Starlink's attitude control system does not work without a strong magnetic field, so a separate chemical RCS would have to be installed for anything beyond LEO, requiring additional thrusters and fuel tanks. And then there's the issue of the actual payload. Sticking any old cell camera on a satellite wouldn't do much good for most missions.
MTU size : r/Starlink - Reddit
Sep 30, 2022 · Not sure if anyone has touched on this, I did an MTU size test and found that over 1472 bytes, the packets need fragmenting, so I set my router to 1472 and my starlink has worked a lot better. Not sure if starlink natively works at 1472 or if it is my router limiting it below 1500 but thought I would share.
Satellite spot beam simulation - first stab : r/Starlink - Reddit
May 10, 2021 · The size of the spot beam on the ground cannot be argued. Here are the 0º, 20º, 45º and 56.7º steering angle beam contours, as provided by Starlink in their FCC filings. It is easy to simulate this: take a flashlight, point it at a wall, see …

How big of a battery to run Starlink for 8 hours? : r/Starlink - Reddit
Mar 31, 2022 · Starlink draws around 100-180W (depending on version and if it's trying to shed snow), so you'll need 800 to 1440 Wh to run Starlink for 8 hours, plus enough extra capacity to overcome inefficiencies in the inverter setup. Let's ignore changes in battery voltage and spitball that at 120 Ah. *
Best UPS Battery Backup For Starlink : r/Starlink - Reddit
Nov 4, 2022 · To answer your question though, I use a APC BackUps 1500 and run Starlink, a router, a switch, a PC, a laptop, and two widescreen monitors. I test it periodically and it lasts about 25 minutes with all of that running. I haven't tested it with just Starlink, but it should last at least an hour with nothing else connected.
Anyway to change MTU settings? : r/Starlink - Reddit
Jan 13, 2023 · Begin increasing the packet size from this number in small increments until you find the largest size that does not fragment. Add 28 to that number (IP/ICMP headers) to get the optimal MTU setting. For example, if the largest packet size from ping tests is 1462, add 28 to 1462 to get a total of 1490 which is the optimal MTU setting.
