In Microsoft Teams (free), it’s easy to start a group chat with your contacts on Teams personal. After you create your group chat, learn more about the different features to get the most out of your chat. Tap New Chat near the bottom of the screen.

Click New chat to start a one-on-one chat and send messages in Microsoft Teams. To start a group chat, just add people to the conversation.

On the left side of Teams, select Chat and then New chat to start a new chat. Type the email addresses, phone numbers, groups or tag of the people you want to invite to chat. Each person may be from a different Teams org. Write a message in the text box at the bottom.

To start a chat with yourself, select New message and enter your name. The new chat appears at the top of your chats and channels list. Drag it to the top of the Favorites list, if you want. Use a group chat when you need to talk to a small group of people. Start one the same way you start a one-on-one chat.

Chat makes it easy to send and read messages, so you can quickly share info with your teammates. Send a message. Select New message at the top of the app. Type the name or names into the To box at the top of your new chat. Compose your message in the box at the bottom of the chat.

Start a chat and send your first message. Add teammates to the chat to turn it into a group conversation. Choose a chat reaction to share how you feel about a message. Add an emoji or GIF to bring some fun to a conversation. Insert a meme to express yourself the way you want. Add a file to your chat message to share information.

Tap Chat > New chat. Add a contact (s) to talk to. Type a message and tap Send. Tap the top of the chat. Tap Group chat name. Type in a name and tap Save. A group chat name makes it easier to find later. Note: A name can only be added to a group chat.
